Can I use the indoor security camera instead?

Absolutely, using an indoor camera instead of a dedicated baby monitor is a viable option, especially if you already have one available or prefer the flexibility of using existing technology.

However, it’s important to consider the specific features that dedicated baby monitors offer, such as the ability to talk back to the baby, check room temperature, play lullabies, and receive alerts for unusual movements.

While indoor cameras may offer some of these features, such as two-way audio communication and motion detection alerts, not all of them include the ability to play lullabies or monitor room temperature. Additionally, dedicated baby monitors often come with specialized features tailored specifically for baby monitoring, which can provide added reassurance during sleep training, daily care routines, and also during hard days when babies have a night fever spike.
